I have always dreamed in technicolor. The most vivid colors, specific shapes and defined people in environments detailed to see, distinguish and feel. Such dreams make me want to seek answers and give them real life interpretation. It is that kind of eagerness to understand how simple dangling details become a purposeful, livable outcome. Like my dreams, the puzzles clients set before me, compel me to intentionally find pieces that fit together, collect patterns and shapes to co-mingle and create a cohesive, bonded image that makes one comfortably comprehend where they love to live.
With over 25 years of experience, I have worked in many environments refining a very unique perspective of the Interior Design world. With a degree in hand, I started at retail level for Ethan Allen. Early on, I was able to hone my design and communication skills through client interaction, proposals and product development; to enhance my knowledge of scheduling, coordinating multi-faceted jobs, working with factories and workrooms, and providing clients expertly crafted products, custom finished and thoughtfully appointed to enjoy in their homes. I evolved further as a Project Manager; training and overseeing designers’ projects while assisting them to develop their customer service skills and to produce beautiful spaces for their clients.
As an account executive for a national historic homes publication group, I was fortunate to experience the design scene through the eyes of very dedicated and authentic craftsmen. These artisans are creating reproduction products and articles for period homes. I admired the sense of attention, customizing and honesty to the trade. Seeing antiques take a fresh breath, new construction seamlessly installed within historic details, hand painted friezes lovingly tooled; all committed to the true values of design and decoration. Inspiring and caring dedication at its best.
Journeying into my own business, I carried all of this knowledge of what makes good design great and how it increases the quality of how someone lives in their home; the value of working with clients on their terms of style and investment; the importance of dedication from everyone working ‘behind the velvet curtain” to make it happen just right - and I am steadfast in those commitments everyday with every project. With proper expectations, an honest partnering approach at every level of service and a want to see my client happy, I provide my best skills of designing, planning and managing throughout the process. Seeing the excitement and feeling the anticipation of a client as we reveal what has been so intentionally designed is the purist compliment. I aspire to that moment of elation when I present back to them, their home, just as they dreamed.
